The “unstoppable force” that is Erling Haaland guided Manchester City to a 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.
Just hours after last season’s title challengers Arsenal dropped points in their 1-1 draw at home to Brighton, Haaland was back in the goals for the champions.
The Norwegian magician has now netted back-to-back hatricks in the league, with his three goals away to West Ham coming as an addition to his unreal form at the Etihad against Ipswich.
Citizens boss Pep Guardiola has hailed his star man as an “unstoppable force”, citing the striker’s work rate as the reason for his success.
“Erling’s unstoppable, there’s no central defender, not even with a gun, to stop him,” Guardiola said post-match.
“He’s playing much better in everything. The details, he stays 20 minutes or half an hour after training sessions.”
On the goal rush, Brentford beat Southampton 3-1 while Fulham drew 1-1 away to Ipswich. Aston Villa beat Leicester 2-1 and Nottingham Forest and Wolves played out a 1-1 draw, too.
Bournemouth truly shocked a few as they came back from 2-0 down to beat Everton 3-2 in the dying embers courtesy of goals from Lewis Cook, Antoine Semenyo and Luis Sinisterra.
On Sunday, Chelsea face Crystal Palace and Newcastle play Spurs before Manchester United versus Liverpool takes centre stage at Old Trafford.
