5-month old baby killed by uncle with spade

A 5-month old baby has been killed allegedly after it’s mother’s uncle hit her with a spade.

This according to place who say the 38-year old man has since been arrested and will appear at the Leeudoringstad Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 08 November.

The man was arrested in Extension 4, Kgakala Township, North West on Sunday, 06 November.

It has been reported that the child’s 16-year old mother had an argument with her uncle, who left the house and went into the garden, returned with the spade and tried to assault his niece.

Unfortunately he hit the baby in the head as the mother was carrying her son on her back.

The infant died in hospital with head injuries on Saturday, 05 November.

Police spokesperson, Lt Colonel Amanda Funani, condemned the incident but applauded the police for such a speedy arrest.
