  • A 45-year-old man was shot dead in the Milpark Hospital parking lot in Johannesburg.
  • Police suspect the killing was a hit, with the victim shot multiple times.
  • SAPS has opened a murder case, but no arrests have been made yet.

A 45-year-old man was shot dead in the parking lot of Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, in what authorities believe may have been an assassination.

According to The Citizen, the incident occurred shortly after 8PM, following the victim’s visit to a friend at the hospital.

South African journalist and anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee reported on X, “Reports of shooting inside the parking area of Milpark Hospital, JHB. One person shot dead- appears to be a hit. Police are on the scene.”

“The victim was shot several times,” Abramjee added.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened a case of murder, and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed investigations are underway.

“The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the motive is still unknown,” said Sibeko.
