After 14 years of fame, Mzansi has been wondering where the Rhythm City cast is now. Rhythm City made all sorts of headlines when it was revealed that it was kissing small-screens goodbye after 14 years of airing. The drama series was one of the most watched soapie operas in Mzansi. In 2021 e.tv confirmed that it would be canning Rhythm City in a bid for new content creation.
The drama series was replaced with the new medical drama series Durban Gen. However, in the mix of things, Mzansi has been trying to connect the dots on the whereabouts of their much-loved starstudded cast of Rhythm City. Mduduzi Mabaso as Suffocate Ndlovu
The seasoned actor Mduduzi Mabaso is best known for his on-screen character Suffocate Ndlovu. He was cast into the drama series as a rogue security guard and low-level gangster involved in a robbery with Nox, which went tragically wrong. Mabaso kissed goodbye to his long-time alter ego Suffocate on the cancelled Rhythm City. In the nix of things, he joined DiepCity, where he is nailing Elliot’s on-screen character.
Zamani Mbatha as Pule
He graced small screens, and he left a mark as one of the best star actors on Rhythm City. In the drama series, he starred as Pule. In the wake of the canning of Rhythm City, he has since joined the e.tvs drama series The Black Door as Khaya.
Jammie Bartlett as David Genaro
The celebrated actor Jammie Bartlett graced Mzansi’s little screens with his role as David Genaro in Rhythm City. Since then, he has become a fan favourite all across the country. However, he passed away in 2022 in his sleep.
Setlhabi Taunyane as Bra Kop
The celebrated South African actor is best known for his on-screen character as Bra Kop Khuse on etv’s hit soapie Rhythm City. Since Rhythm City’s canning, Mzansi has yet to confirm his whereabouts. Undoubtedly, he is celebrated for his cool which has wowed Mzansi for years.
Slindile Nodangala as Ma Blossom
Through the years, she has managed to wow Mzansi as Bra Kop’s wife, best known for her on-screen character Ma Blossom. However, in the wake of the exit, she switched the floor to e.tvs drama series Scandal. In the drama series, she stars as Mrs Kubeka.
Mncedisi Shabangu as Khulekani Ngobese
Best known for his hyena laugh on Rhythm City as Khulekani Ngobese, the multi-faceted actor died in 2021 at 54. Dupped as the theatre godfather Mncedisi Shabangu joined Rhythm City as Suffocate and David Genaro’s enemy.
Rhythm City cast – Supporting actors
Mapula Molefe as Mapula
Molefe is best known for her on-screen character on Rhythm City as Mapula. She has since found her spark again on-small screens with a supporting role on The Unmarried. She also doubles as a model and fashion designer, and influencer. Apart from that, she has been furnishing her craft with some acting education just like those before her.
Kea Masango as Zinhle
The fast-rising actress made all sorts of headlines with her on-screen character of Zihle on Rhythm City. She was cast in the drama series as Khulekani and Nandi Ngobesese’s daughter. In the wake of Rhythm City, she has since wowed Mzansi with her acting flair on Blood and Water. She also joined Ayeye Stripped recently.
Petronella Tshuma as Pearl
South African actress Petronella Tshuma is best known as Pearl Genaro from Rhythm City. However, she has managed to keep her career path under wraps. Mzansi is yet to see her bouncing back on-small screens after Rhythm City exit.
