Derick Butinyana Mosito returns to the Brits Magistrateβs Court today, 17 September 2026, for his formal bail application in connection with the clandestine drug laboratory uncovered in Klipvoorstad, North West.
Mosito was arrested after a bizarre chain of events in which a search for lost goats reportedly led to the discovery of a suspected laboratory believed to have been manufacturing the drug commonly known as CAT.
North West Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Arthur Peter Adams previously said four men allegedly fled when police approached the property. Mosito, who police identified as the tenant, was arrested while three others escaped.
Adams said expensive, recently purchased equipment discovered at the property suggested the alleged operation was being financed by someone with βvery deep pockets.β
Forensic experts and the Hawks were subsequently called to process the scene.
MDNtv is at court and will bring you the latest developments.
