The Hawks and INTERPOL South Africa are today facilitating the extradition of six Nigerian nationals allegedly linked to the Black Axe organised criminal network.
The men are wanted in the United States on wire fraud and money-laundering charges after allegedly targeting more than 100 women through online romance scams.
Their reported victims included pensioners and businesswomen who were allegedly drawn into sophisticated online relationships before being defrauded.
The suspects, arrested in South Africa in 2021, will be handed over to FBI and US Secret Service officials at Cape Town International Airport.
