βMost have phones so they hide it well because the other cells warn us.β
That allegation appears in leaked WhatsApp communications purportedly involving murder accused Tiffany Meek.
It raises a question that goes far beyond one alleged cellphone:
If inmates could warn one another before prison searches reached their cells, how effective were those searches?
MDNtv put detailed questions to Correctional Services about the alleged phone, searches, confiscations and possible facilitators. The enquiries were escalated to the Office of Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald.
The central questions remain unanswered.
This is the latest instalment of THE TIFFANY MEEK FILES, an MDNtv exclusive investigation.
