Mofokeng scores a stunning free-kick against TS Galaxy

Relebohile Mofokeng produced a moment of brilliance with a stunning free-kick as Orlando Pirates secured victory over TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Buccaneers came out firing, applying early pressure in search of an opening goal.

Their task was made easier when Galaxy were reduced to 10 men after Oupa Motaung was sent off for a reckless challenge on Tshepang Moremi.

Pirates capitalised soon after, with Mofokeng stepping up to deliver a superb free-kick that beat Ira Tape, handing the visitors a deserved lead.

Despite Pirates’ dominance in the first half, Tape produced several key saves to keep the Rockets in contention. However, the pressure eventually told, as Moremi unleashed a powerful long-range effort to double Pirates’ advantage before the break.

Mofokeng free-kick sparks fan frenzy

Mofokeng’s sensational strike, his fifth league goal of the season, sent Pirates supporters into a frenzy on social media. The 21-year-old winger continues to impress, carrying strong form into 2026.

At half-time, the Buccaneers were leading 3-0.

Fans were quick to praise his technique and composure:

@SiyaMnyandu10: “I always knew Mofokeng had the potential to be a free-kick taker, judging by his technique and passing ability. Most good passers are good at taking free-kicks.”

@BrunoBaartman: “Andre De Jong and Mofokeng seem to understand each other very well. I’m loving what I’m seeing so far.”

@Ndobe_Bibow: “Mofokeng! He just scored his first free-kick goal right from that Lionel Messi area and even used Messi’s technique. What a beautiful goal!”

@Celokuhleh: “Laced it. Didn’t smash it. Didn’t blast it. Just slid it through like the wall wasn’t even there… like the keeper wasn’t even there.”

Should Mofokeng win PSL player of the season?
