Brown Mogotsi has returned to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court today (22 June 2026) to launch a fresh bail application.
The North West businessman and alleged political fixer, who has been in custody since his arrest on 15 May shortly after testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, faces charges of defeating the ends of justice, perjury and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
These stem from an allegedly staged assassination attempt he reported in Vosloorus in November 2025.
His previous bail bid was denied on 4 June after the court found discrepancies in the residential addresses he provided and concluded there was a likelihood he could evade trial.
Mogotsi’s legal team is now presenting new facts in support of his release, with the matter linked to wider allegations of political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system that are under scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission.
