Kaizer Chiefs coach reveals key change before derby

Kaizer Chiefs head into the Soweto derby in a very different place compared to February’s 3-0 loss to Orlando Pirates.

After a difficult period, Amakhosi have managed to stabilise results and build some momentum in the Betway Premiership.

Orlando Pirates remain top of the table, but Kaizer Chiefs have quietly stayed in the race, sitting third with a chance to push higher. With six matches left, Sunday’s clash carries weight for both sides.

KAIZER CHIEFS FIND CONSISTENCY AT THE RIGHT TIME

One of the biggest changes has been stability in selection. Injuries had disrupted the team earlier in the campaign, forcing constant changes and affecting rhythm.

“The difficult thing as coaches is that we had a lot of injuries and therefore had to make substitutions. With that, you lose the consistency,” Youssef told journalists.

“Now, at least with the last five or six games, we have had the same squad. The consistency is there, so the performance is there,” Ben Youssef said.

AMAKHOSI FINISHING IMPROVES BEFORE DERBY

Chiefs have also shown improvement in front of goal in recent matches. Earlier struggles to convert chances cost them points, but that has started to change.

“There were some games where the performance was great, but we were unlucky not to score,” the Tunisian continued. “Last few games, I think the performance was there. We had a good finishing and all the players are ready to play this game.

“I think regarding the performance in training, the mentality that we show in these three weeks, I think we will make a good performance to win this game,” he concluded.
