Orlando Pirates could earn around R38 million this season if they win the Betway Premiership.

The Bucccaneers are currently top of the log with eight matches remaining however their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns are just two points behind and have a game in hand.

Masandawana are chasing their first silverware of the season having missed out on the MTN8, Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup. The Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League are still up for grabs for the Brazilians.

Can Orlando Pirates R38 million?

The Sea Robbers could have earned more this season but their early exit from the CAF Champions League only saw them walking away with just R1 million.

MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup triumphs saw Pirates earn a total of R16.8 million in prize money and adding to the CAF CL participation fee, the total earnings was R17.8 million.

If the Buccaneers can claim the Betway Premiership, they will add another R20 million to their account. They have not won the league in 14 years.

With just R250 000 earned in the Nedbank Cup, the league will not only bring joy to the faces of the Bucs faithful but also increase the selling price of their players.

In total, Orlando Pirates will make roughly R38 million this season from either winning or participating in five different cup comeptitions.

Orlando Pirates are at home to Golden Arrows on 7 April as they look to extend their lead at the toof the table.

Do you think Pirates can win the league?
